Job Overview

  • To lead and manage the paraplanning team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality financial planning support to advisers and clients with the support of senior management.
  • This role requires a strong technical knowledge, leadership capabilities and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of compliance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Technical

  • Lead, develop, and mentor the paraplanning team, ensuring continuous professional development and performance excellence.
  • Oversee the production of high-quality suitability reports, research, and financial planning analysis in accordance with our compliance procedures and software.
  • Implement and refine processes to improve efficiency and service delivery within the team.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with financial advisers to support client recommendations and financial strategies.
  • Manage workload allocation within the team to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation, financial products, and industry best practices.
  • Support the development and implementation of technology solutions to enhance paraplanning efficiencies.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on complex financial planning cases.
  • Work with the admin team and paraplanning team to ensure they are proficient in completion of annual review packs and spotting opportunities within the client bank with a view to ensuring that the adviser enters a meeting fully equipped with the tools to complete any potential new business.
  • Push new business cases to ensure that these are moved forward as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Customer Service

  • Comply with internal and external Service Level Agreements
  • Attend client meetings and promote the company’s services in a professional & FCA compliant manner.
  • Deal effectively with enquiries from clients and third parties
  • Report any customer service issues or complaints to Practice Manager

IT & Systems

To make effective use of the: –

  • Case Management and Voicemail systems
  • Microsoft & Email systems
  • Use online and / or other updating systems effectively
  • Use the back office system on a daily basis to ensure that tasks are maintained across the team

General

  • To demonstrate full commitment to open and honest business practices in line with regulatory requirements.
  • To make appropriate recommendations for service improvement
  • To undertake any other appropriate duties as may be required
  • To attend and complete relevant training
  • To co-operate with and take part in the business’s appraisal process
  • To demonstrate support for the Firm’s development and values

Key Skills & Responsibilities

  • Diploma in Financial Planning (or equivalent) required; Chartered or working towards Chartered status desirable but not essential. Support will be provided by the business to achieve this qualification.
  • Extensive experience in paraplanning, with a strong technical knowledge of financial planning and products.
  • Experience managing and developing a team.
  • Strong understanding of compliance, regulatory requirements, and financial planning principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with advisers and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in financial planning software and tools.
