The Role

The Estate Planning Team has a wealth of technical knowledge and experience, dealing with other professionals, clients and our in-house teams, and as such your role will be varied. From providing estate planning guidance to over 2,000 consultants nationwide, acting as a professional trustee and chairing trustee meetings, checking bespoke documentation, conducting training sessions internally and externally and providing technical support to our numerous in-house teams.

 

To name a few of the areas that we deal with: Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Probate and Estate Administration, Deeds of Variation, Trust Administration, Taxation, Cross Option Agreements, Life Assurance, Pensions and Investments.

 

Given the breadth of topics, the team has regular training, as well as scheduled research time, to further develop and consolidate knowledge.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Providing technical support to both external partners and our in-house teams, including our Trust Management, Conveyancing, Probate and Administration teams.
  • Providing advice on existing wills and other estate planning documentation.
  • Providing advice around the implications of buying and selling trust and estate assets including properties.
  • Considering the implications of transferring trust assets in and out of trusts.
  • Chairing client meetings (trustee meetings) in which you act on behalf of the company to directly advise clients on what their trust means, how best to use it and generally answering their questions.
  • Presenting training courses to our External Partners on our more basic trust and estate planning.
  • Assisting with the drafting and checking of more complex documentation such as Deeds of Variation and Trusts of Land.
  • Providing full estate planning advice to advisors and on occasion, clients.
  • Researching areas of trust law and practicalities, looking at how it applies in certain situations, to help answer queries and produce informational sheets.

  • You must be able to learn quickly and adapt to new processes.
  • You must be highly motivated and want to increase your technical knowledge by learning from experienced private client practitioners – don’t be afraid to ask questions that’s how we all learnt!
  • You must have the ability to learn quickly and be a team player.
  • You must be highly organised and have an eye for detail.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
